Medical Second Opinion
A second opinion is when a doctor other than your primary care doctor reviews your medical chart and test results to give you a diagnosis and treatment recommendation. A second doctor’s opinion may turn out to be the same as your primary, or it may suggest a different approach or include additional recommendations. The second doctor’s opinion might have an alternate explanation for your health problems, or it may offer you a different treatment plan.

Our Services and What to Expect During Your Visit
-
Initial Meeting & Physician Interview
We understand the importance of getting to know the physician who will be handling your case. During this 60-minute meeting and physician interview, we encourage patients to bring all of their questions and concerns to the table. We also encourage our patients to get to know Dr. Donca’s medical background, experience, and expertise in a one-on-one interview so that you can be comfortable knowing his dedication to healthcare, and to you in particular.
-
Blind Physical and Case Review
During the first portion of this visit ,Dr. Donca will perform a blind physical in which he will do a complete history and physical, as well as a full body examination. He will take the concerns you shared in your initial meeting into account during this extensive evaluation. The purpose of the blind physical is to get a set of fresh eyes on your condition without any biased opinions on your overall health.
-
Plan of Care Follow-Up
If your initial physical and case review was inconclusive, you likely underwent further tests to pinpoint your medical issues. During your follow-up, Dr. Donca will thoroughly discuss each test result, explaining their significance in assessing your symptoms' progression. You'll gain a clear understanding of your health status and treatment plan, leaving with increased confidence in your medical diagnosis and care regimen. It's essential to recognize that, based on follow-up results, additional tests may be necessary to refine your diagnosis and tailor your care plan accordingly.
Second opinion fears
Patients may worry about potentially offending their primary physician when considering a second opinion. A doctor that prioritizes your well-being understands the importance of seeking additional perspectives. They encourage you to explore a second opinion, ensuring you feel confident and assured before embarking on any treatment. Remember, they would likely do the same if they were in your position as a patient. Don’t fear, our team of professionals are here for you every step of the way.

* We are unable to provide second opinions to patients who currently have a diagnosis of cancer, surgical cases, or for patients who are looking for a second opinion on a psychiatric diagnosis. These patients are excluded because they are not within our scope of medical expertise and require a specialist to diagnose and treat their conditions. If you are unsure if you are a candidate for our second opinion program, we encourage all patients to schedule an appointment with us to discuss their concerns and how we can collaborate with them in their health and wellbeing.
